Clear skies, where art thou?
I'm sitting here wondering.. what is happening? It is hazy/overcast outside and visibility is very poor. I remember watching Discovery channel the other time predicting about how the world would end.. or rather, about what'll happen beyond year 3000 (or.. was it about the asteroids..?).
Anyway, it is said that Earth will be blanketed in smoke that blocks off the sunlight, trees will eventually die followed by herbivorous animals (since their source of food is gone). Then, the carnivores will be depleted and the world will become an icy place to live in. The humans will be long gone by then, but some animals will evolve and survive in the harsh environment.
Bleak, isn't it?
I have just finished my 3rd class and a look outside fails to encourage a weary heart.. The government doesn't seem to be doing anything about this. I'm mostly irritated by the lack of action than anything else. There are no news on what's happening and no indication whatsoever on what's to be done. I'll effectively withdraw my kids from school tomorrow, no matter what the headmaster says. I'll not have my kids breathing in this air.
The Star has reported that the haze will continue till October. I guess we'll have our Merdeka celebration in a smoky Dataran. I am rather disappointed by the lack of information. What is the air pollution index? What kind of air are we breathing now? Why does this keep happening? Frankly I have more questions than answers..
