Getting Things Done | Too Many Cooks
We are organising a conference in September.
There are a few of us in charge of different parts of the event.
Me & 4 others are handling internal promotions & the website.
Initial design was agreed & thorough content was provided by another colleague.
This colleague had handled many academic conferences in the past & has the complete templates for use.
What transpired was something else:
- another Professor invited herself and wanted to promote her event, riding on our conference promotions
- another Professor invited herself and wanted to promote her event, riding on our conference promotions
- amongst us there were many 'idea contributors' that confused the website designers
- the website designers did not consider UI/ UX and the design came out below par
- a UI/UX designer has to be brought in by another colleague, who doesn't have the heart to let a sub-par website be released to the world
- the sponsors had some ideas too & more changes had to be made to the website and posters
We made the website request in March. The website to this still had additions/ changes to make in June 2023, however we can now safely promote the link without causing shock & horror.
Moral of the story: don't get involved?
Must learn resolve & not comment at all, UNLESS I'm willing to get involved all the way.
The less I know the better.
