What I have Learnt from Yoga
Using the theme of Lifehack (listing), here we go:
1- THINGS GET EASIER
The yoga poses appear impossible when I first started out, yet when I do them often enough the poses become easier and more manageable.
2- PERSEVERANCE
My knees felt like buckling... my shoulders are tied in knots... my hamstrings are stretched to the limit... yet when I wait it out and continue breathing, the countdown will reach ...58, 59, 60 (yay!!!!)
3- THERE IS A REASON BEHIND EVERYTHING (that happens)
Every pose in yoga carries a meaning and has health benefits e.g. to massage the organs; to align the spine; to balance the body; for inner peace; for the health of the reproductive systems (etc). Just enjoy each one of it.
4- RELAX
The Savasana pose is the best to clear the mind and find my centre.
5- HAVE BREAKS
After a nasal breathing exercise or difficult poses, I get into the child's pose and wind down for about 10 seconds before starting other poses.
6- LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
Go for options if unable to do the full pose. Listen to your body and it will respond when it is ready.
7- DETACH
If the mind is not clear you will never be able to do the Tree pose or Warrior III with stability.
8- YOU WILL GET THERE ONE DAY
There will come a time when you (I) will be able to find inner peace, when your(my) energy points will align and the blue/ purple point will appear in between the mind's eyes. I just have to believe.
