Refresher

Today I presented a a refresher session about online teaching and we reviewed the teaching tips via MS-Teams.

The session was initially planned to be face to face, but with the CMCO the session had to be conducted online (and I am the happiest person because of it).

What is interesting: as the "trainer" I had been supporting my colleagues in online teaching since MCO was first announced on 18 March 2020. There was a lot of consultation from March & April.. we seemed to have gotten into the swing of things around May and by October, things have generally gone quiet i.e. I do not get any issues or request for assistance anymore UNTIL we do a refresher session.

People say "No news is good news" but with online teaching, it may be good to just say "hi, how are you doing" once in a while. The sentiment survey sent out in July/ Aug seemed positive, but it's always good to ask.

In the refresher session, a lot shared their tried and tested methods (as we have matured in e-learning as teachers too) and one person was supported to conduct a live event, as he had been allocated a lecture with 550 students. A daunting prospect yet I am happy to report his positive attitude, given his age and his unfamiliarity with technology. Let's do this people!
