Unfinished business

Today I installed the Duolingo app to learn Chinese. In 10 minutes I had learnt "hello" and "goodbye", together with its written characters. The 2 little ones who are proficient speakers and writers kept interrupting- they want to help me answer the questions.

I had wanted to do this when they were in pre-school, before I registered them to a Chinese school (SJKC in Malaysia). The plan is that by the time they start school I would be able to speak a sentence or two in Chinese. That was 8 years ago, I am embarrassed to say. Decided that today is the start day, and I will forge forth (watch this space if you want to know how I do in the next few months- hubby says I cannot sustain my interest beyond a few days, but we'll see- I would like to keep on going).

Another reason for this: I would like my brain cells to be revived, to avoid Alzheimer's. My concern started when I begin forgetting things. Not major ones, but sometimes where I put the keys, or certain dates (so to overcome the date-challenge, I have utilised my phone's calendar function more these days).

Good Luck to me on both counts (learning Chinese & reconnecting my brain cells)!
