Annual Event

Every year, we would return to our former high school and conduct 'mock interview' sessions to prepare the students for scholarship interviews. This year a face to face interview was not possible so an online session was held via zoom.

This entry is not about the mock interview per se, but about leaders.

One may choose to be a strict leader that barks down orders, or one may choose to be a kind leader that fights with us together in the trenches.

Being a voluntary activity, such a session need not be a stressful one. Everyone has contributed in every way they can, has taken time off to be there, and are doing their best UNPAID.

In short, what the public sees are the happy faces and reasonably successful event. In my heart, I do not ever want to do it ever again. When running an event, it should be an empowering and happy occasion. Stress about event handling is enough in itself, without others adding on extra stress ammunition. The technical bits may not work as well, that's common, but the most important learning point is to go with the flow. The show must go on, and it will go on. And it did.

Blessed I was to have hubby on my side. I had absorbed too much of the anxiety after being barked on, and he was there as a calming presence. Hence the trauma was not too great. Thanks very much my dearest. This is one of the many reasons why I love you.
