Malicious Behaviour
A gossip, taken too far OR an over-reaction? You decide.
A colleague (let's call her C1) was having lunch with her hubby in the college cafe & 2 other colleagues (let's call them C2 & C3) decided that it may be funny to start a gossip. C2 & C3 informed a new member of staff (let's call her 'Newbie') that C1 is having lunch with her boyfriend. A harmless statement, wouldn't you say?
However, you should know that Newbie used to go to school with C1. Newbie also goes to the same church as C1 & has knowledge of C1's marriage, but does not know to whom. Newbie then told another person and this other person told C1, who flipped.
C1 got upset, huffed & puffed, and explained herself to Newbie. She also gave a piece of her mind to C2 & C3. The intent of the pair (C2 & C3) or the purpose of their actions, is anyone's guess.
There's a point when a joke ceases to be funny, and I would think this is one of those moments.
