Owls

Number Four when taking out the trash yesterday saw a pair of owls on a large tree growing at the playground in front of our house.

How did she know it was an owl? She said she saw protruding 'ears' from its heads. She knew they weren't ears but that was a short way to describe them.

As usual I did a google search and found that they may have been eagle owls which are common in Malaysia. Not endangered- thank goodness! Wonderful to know that we still do have thriving species despite the damage that we humans have done to Mother Earth.

In folklore owls sighting usually signifies that someone has lost his/ her loved ones. Well I do not believe in such a belief, but it had happened perhaps once in my life. My former housekeeper's husband passed away a day after I sighted an owl near our house (mind you, my house is in the suburbs and far away from the wilderness). She left for home, took some of her money for expenses back home, mourned his death, married her boyfriend and never returned. My loss for being gullible. And Mr Owl, it is not your fault.
